NPR'S "PERFORMANCE TODAY" TO BROADCAST SHANGHAI QUARTET PERFORMANCE RECORDED AT MODLIN CENTER

National Public Radio's "Performance Today" will open its Jan. 29 program with a performance by The Shanghai Quartet, recorded at the University of Richmond's Modlin Center for the Arts.
The group played "String Quartet, Opus 95 (Serioso)" by Beethoven at its Jan. 22 Modlin Center concert.
The broadcast will air locally on NPR affiliate station WCVE (88.9 FM) from 9-11 a.m.. "Performance Today" is carried at various times by other NPR affiliates around the country.
The Shanghai Quartet recently celebrated its 10th anniversary as artists-in-residence at the University of Richmond. The New York Times recently praised the Shanghai, saying, "If there is a string quartet currently in circulation that produces a more beautiful sound than the Shanghai Quartet, the name doesn't immediately come to mind."
