Albanian filmmaker and actor to screen "Letters in the Wind"

Albanian filmmaker and actor Edmond Budina will present his award-winning movie "Letters in the Wind" Feb. 26 at 6 p.m. at the Byrd Theater. The event is free and open to the public.
Budina's appearance is sponsored by the Department of Modern Literatures and Cultures at University of Richmond and is part of the Tucker-Boatwright Festival of the Arts. Prior to making "Letters in the Wind," Budina worked for many years as a director and actor at the National Theater in Tirana, Albania. For several years, he also was artistic director of the National Theater and professor of the Albanian Academy of Dramatic Arts in Tirana.
Budina is both director and leading actor in the film, which depicts the heartbreaking journey of a father in search of his son, who has immigrated to Italy.
The film has competed in 20 international film festivals, receiving enthusiastic praise and a number of awards, including "Best Film" in the Austrian Film Festival and "Best Screenplay" in the Concorso delle Opera Prime Italiane.
