University of Richmond President to Sign Exchange Agreement With Rector of Turkish University on Feb. 17

University of Richmond President William E. Cooper will sign an exchange agreement with Rector Ali Dogramaci of Bilkent University in Ankara, Turkey, in a ceremony beginning at 9 a.m., Feb. 17, in the Jepson Alumni Center on the Richmond campus.
Bilkent University is one of the top teaching and research institutions in Turkey. The language of instruction is English. It also has a satellite Internet connection to the United States and a communications office in New York City.
The agreement calls for student and faculty exchanges, as well as other collaborations.
Two faculty members from Bilkent are slated to teach at Richmond next fall, and students will follow in spring 2007. Richmond students will receive their financial aid while participating in the exchanges, as well as a travel stipend.
Bilkent has exchange programs and collaborative projects with a number of U.S. universities, including the University of California system, Purdue, Johns Hopkins, Georgia Tech and the University of Texas at Austin.
Richmond is affiliated with about 60 universities in 35 different countries, where its students can study for a semester or a full year. More than 60 percent of students graduate with a study-abroad experience, and international students from more than 70 countries are on campus.
