Sniper Trial Lawyers to Argue Juvenile Death Penalty in Panel Discussion at University of Richmond

Two lead players in the sniper trials of John Allen Muhammad and Lee Boyd Malvo will highlight a panel discussion of "Is There Life for the Juvenile Death Penalty After Malvo?" Feb. 19 at the University of Richmond School of Law.

Paul Ebert, Prince William Co.'s commonwealth's attorney and the lead prosecutor in the Muhammad trial, and Craig S. Cooley, who defended Malvo, will be part of a panel moderated by Robert E. Shepherd, professor of law emeritus at Richmond and one of the nation's leading authorities on juvenile justice.

Other panelists will be Sharon Breeden Will, judge, 14th Judicial Circuit Juvenile and Domestic Relations District Court; Bill Petty, Lynchburg, Va.'s commonwealth's attorney; and James Broccolletti, former supervisor of the career-criminal and major-offender division of the Norfolk, Va.'s attorney general's office.

The event, which also will include oral arguments by Richmond students, will take place 6-8:30 p.m. in the Moot Court Room at the law school. It is free and open to the public. A reception will follow.
