PROGRAM INFORMATION:
Shanghai Quartet, the University of Richmond's quartet-in-residence, teams with clarinetist David Shifrin to perform three Chinese folk songs arranged by Yiwen Jiang; "String Quartet in C major, Opus 59, #3," by Beethoven; and "Quintet in B minor for Clarinet and Strings, Opus 115," by Brahms.

The New York Times compares the Shanghai Quartet's style to "the aristocratic style of prewar European quartets." Of David Shifrin, the San Francisco Chronicle says, "The sound he produces is a revelation in just how beautifully the clarinet can be played."
