ALL-NIGHT READINGS OF HOMER AND MILTON SET AT UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND

Feb. 27, 2001

University of Richmond students and faculty will host marathon, all-night readings of Homer's "Iliad" on March 2 and John Milton's "Paradise Lost" on March 3 to benefit Richmond's Reading Is Fundamental program (RIF).

They will attempt to raise money for the city of Richmond's project to distribute books to 16,000 preschoolers through fifth grade. RIF gave the city a grant for the project, but participating schools must raise 25% of the cost of the books.

The students are looking for donors to sponsor their readings to help defray the books' cost.

Readings will begin at 7:30 both nights in Whitehurst Hall Lounge and will conclude around dawn. March 2 is Dr. Seuss's birthday.

The community is invited to read or just listen. For more information, please call Louis Schwartz at 289-8315 or Julie Laskaris at 289-8734.
