JEWISH STUDIES SCHOLAR TO SHARE EGYPTIAN EXPERIENCES AT THE UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND

Gary A. Rendsburg, visiting professor of Jewish studies, will speak on "Egypt: A Trip Up the Nile" Feb. 21 at the University of Richmond.
Rendsburg will examine the major accomplishments of ancient Egypt, its relationship with ancient Israel and role in Western civilization. He also will show slides from his 1997 tour of Egypt during the 7 p.m. program at Jepson Hall, Room 118.
Rendsburg's talk is sponsored by the Cornell Club of Central Virginia. Admission is free and open to the public.
The Paul and Berthe Hendrix Memorial Professor of Jewish Studies in the Department of Near Eastern Studies at Cornell University, Rendsburg has traveled to all major archaeological sites in Israel, Egypt and Jordan. He also conducts seminars for the Biblical Archaeology Society.
