PROGRAM INFORMATION:
"LeMonde" acclaims Boston Camerata "America's most
important early music ensemble." In this program the ensemble
performs the hymns, spirituals, partsongs, marches, anthems, jigs
and ballads that were part of American life between the Revolutionary
and the Civil Wars. Like the American people, these pieces are a
mix of different origins and influences. The program, which consists
of seven parts, includes both familiar songs and pieces never before
performed by Boston Camerata. The audience will be invited to sing
along with the ensemble some familiar pieces.
Founded in 1954, the Boston Camerata ensemble conducts numerous teaching, research, recording and concert projects throughout the world.
