Wohl has studied microbiology for several years, and specializes in microbial interactions in freshwater systems. Her most recent research involves the role of redundancy and biodiversity: "Is more better?" She is a member of the American Society for Microbiology, the International Society for Microbial Ecology and Ecological Society of America.
