West has been the designer/technical director for University of Richmond since 1985. He holds a B.A. from Richmond and an M.F.A. from Wayne State. He has taught scene, lighting and costume design, stagecraft, theatre management and various seminars. He was technical assistant at the Royal National Theatre in London in 1992, RSC Stratford upon Avon in 1999 and has designed plays at Wayne State University, St. Mary's College of Maryland, University of New Orleans and Richmond. He has also designed scenery for the Samara Drama Theatre, Samar Russia.
