President of the Richmond chapter of the Virginia Society of Certified Public Accountants, Sanborn holds a B.A. from Johns Hopkins, MBA from Boston University and Ph.D. from the University of Georgia. He teaches and conducts research in financial accounting and financial statement analysis. He has written articles on students' and instructors' estimations of required study time and changes provided by Statement of Financial Accounting Concepts No. 6.
