Kinsley conducts research on how and why the brain affects behavior, in particular female brain and behavior. In fall 1998 he presented research to the Society of Neuroscience that found that motherhood increased learning capacity and memory in rats. His research attracted international media attention and led to publication of an article in the prestigious science journal Nature. Dr. Kinsley holds a B.A. from the State University of California, Sonoma; and a Ph.D. from the State University of New York, University Center at Albany. He was a postdoctoral fellow and research associate at Harvard Medical School before coming to the University of Richmond.
