Joyce holds a M.Ed. in instructional technology from the University of Virginia and a bachelor of science in speech and hearing from East Tennessee State University. She teaches courses in the education department and oversees the department's curriculum materials and technologies center.
She has given dozens of presentations and written numerous articles on teaching and learning with technology, faculty development in the information age, science on the Internet, the Internet for teachers and parents, designing and developing WebQuests and related topics. She also has practical experience providing training and support to faculty, staff and students in the integration of technology in teaching, learning and research.
