Hoyt received a Ph.D. in social psychology from the University of California, Santa Barbara, and a B.A. in psychology from Claremont McKenna College. She teaches in the University of Richmonds Jepson School of Leadership Studies. Hoyt has published journal articles on group leadership, women leaders, social inhibition in immersive virtual environments, transformational leadership and virtual reality technology.
