A graduate of the University of Florida with BSBA and Ph.D. degrees, Fishe was a senior academic fellow for the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission in Washington from 1999-2000. He formerly taught at the University of Miami, where he was chair of the finance department. His current research centers on the behavior of bid-ask spreads and volume in options markets, the impact of illegal insider trading in dealer and specialist markets and aftermarket liquidity from underwriter short covering. His articles have appeared in many journals, including Journal of Financial and Quantitative Analysis, Journal of Finance, Atlantic Economic Journal and Journal of Business Finance & Accounting.
Fishe is coauthor of the book, Microeconomics -- Price Theory in Practice, published by HarperCollins. In 2002 he won the Excellence in Teaching Award from the School of Business Administration at the University of Miami. In addition to teaching undergraduate and graduate students, Fishe has taught in executive MBA programs and seminars around the country.
