"The Middle Place" author Kelly Corrigan to speak, sign books at University of Richmond Jan. 17

December 18, 2007

University of Richmond alumna Kelly Corrigan will speak on campus Jan. 17 at 7 p.m. about her new book, "The Middle Place," a memoir of making the transition from daughter to mother during a breast cancer crisis.

"The Middle Place" arrives in bookstores across the country Jan. 8 from publisher Hyperion's Voice. Corrigan is scheduled to appear on NBC's "Today" show the next morning during the 8:30 a.m. half hour.

The January issue of O The Oprah Magazine calls Corrigan's book "funny, scary and irresistibly exuberant" in a full-page profile. "The Middle Place" also has been recommended by Elle, Good Housekeeping and Glamour magazines, with Glamour comparing it to David Sedaris' "Me Talk Pretty One Day." "The Middle Place" also has been chosen by Booksense, the national coalition of independent booksellers, and by Barnes and Noble for their Discover Great New Writers Program.

Corrigan's lecture and book signing will be at Weinstein Hall's Brown-Alley Room. The event is free and open to the public, but reservations are encouraged. To reserve a seat, call the UR Bookstore at (804) 289-8491.
