University of Richmond Annual Candlelight Lessons and Carols Services Set for Dec. 5 Featuring "Messiah" Selections

The University of Richmond will hold its annual Candlelight Lessons and Carols services Dec. 5 at 5 and 8 p.m. in Cannon Memorial Chapel.
The Schola Cantorum and University choirs will perform Christmas anthems and selections from G.F. Handel’s “Messiah.” The Rev. Dr. Daphne Burt, chaplain to the university, will lead the services, which also will include the reading of Christmas season lessons from the Bible. The congregation will light candles for the traditional singing of “Silent Night” at the close of each service.
