University of Richmond dining services wins two national awards

August 21, 2007

University of Richmond Dining Services won the gold medal for medium-size colleges and the People's Choice Award at the 2007 annual conference of the National Association of College and University Food Services held July 10-14 in Seattle.

University Dining Services' entry included a copy of the menu cycle, nutritional information, communication methods, balance options, menu specials and promotions. Entries were judged on balance, creativity, marketing, nutrition education and other criteria.

Conference attendees voted on the People's Choice Award. Richmond won for best residence hall menu, which represents the best menu in the category from all colleges and universities submitting entries.

Richmond's dining center underwent a $9.9 million renovation and expansion and reopened as a state-of-the-art food center in fall 2006.
