University of Richmond Senior Wins National Award in Student Musical Composition Competition

David Raiser, a University of Richmond senior of Lititz, Pa., captured a third place award for student musical composition in the 2006 New Music Festival sponsored by the National Institute for Technology and Liberal Education earlier this summer in Winter Park, Fla..
Raiser’s “Redox” premiered at the festival, which he attended with music professor Benjamin Broening. Recently named a Fulbright scholar to Estonia, Broening’s own composition, “like dreams statistics are a form of wish fulfillment,” was performed at the festival by the Luna Nova New Music Ensemble.
