Richmond Makes U.S. News & World Report's "Great Schools, Great Prices" List

U.S. News & World Report has chosen University of Richmond for its list of “Great Schools, Great Prices” in its 2006 “America’s Best Colleges” issue.
The list selects schools that offer the best value—relating academic quality to the net cost of attendance for a student who receives the average level of need-based financial aid. “The higher the quality and the lower the cost, the better the deal,” U.S. News said in its introduction to the list.
Richmond, which ranked 34th overall in the magazine’s prestigious “best liberal arts colleges” category for the first time this year, was among only 40 schools from that national category to be chosen as a best value.
“It’s especially satisfying for the University of Richmond to be recognized not only for the high quality of its academic programs, but also for its affordability because of the significant amount of financial aid we offer,” said President William E. Cooper.
Richmond is the only university in Virginia and one of fewer than 40 in the country that meets 100 percent of an undergraduate student’s demonstrated financial need while remaining “need-blind” in admission decisions.
