University of Richmond's Diane Hardy Honored With National Collegiate Food Services Award

August 8, 2005

Diane Hardy, director of dining services at the University of Richmond, was honored as the 2005 recipient of the Theodore W. Minah Distinguished Service Award by the National Association of College and University Food Services.

The award was presented last month at NACUFS’ national conference in New Orleans.

Hardy joined the University of Richmond dining staff in 1978 and was named director in 1997. She earned her B.S. degree in restaurant, hotel, and institutional management from Purdue University in 1976 and later returned for graduate study in hospitality administration.

Hardy is a former national president and chair of the national education and professional standards committees of NACUFS. She and her dining services team were awarded the prestigious Ivy Award by Restaurants & Institutions magazine. She also is a regular attendee and contributor to the National Restaurant Association, and has been published in several related food service publications.

The Minah Award is NACUFS’ most prestigious honor. Originally established as the Distinguished Service Award in 1967, it was renamed in 1973 to honor the first recipient, Theodore W. Minah. It is presented in recognition of exemplary and enduring contributions to the food service industry and to the association.

NACUFS is a trade association for campus dining departments at institutions of higher learning in the United States, Canada and abroad.
