August 6, 2004

Jeff McKee, former host of the Jeff and Jeff show on radio station WRXL, will moderate a panel discussion Aug. 11 on "music, media, medicine, maturing and more" at the University of Richmond.

The discussion will focus on how music, media and medicine have influenced each other and the over-50 generation. The panel will include E. Bruce Heilman, chancellor and former president of the University of Richmond; Lisa Schaffner, co-news anchor on WRIC-TV; Robbin Thompson, one of Richmond's most beloved musicians; and Robert "Bob" Quarles, M.D. and leader and keyboardist for The English Channel, a local British Invasion cover band.

The event, which is free and open to the public, is sponsored by the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute. It will begin at 7 p.m. in the Tyler Haynes Commons.

The Osher Institute offers an extensive array of traditional liberal arts and special interest classes for people 50 and older through the university's School of Continuing Studies. For more information, call (804) 289-8020.
