Helena Cobban to Discuss Middle East Peace at University of Richmond

Helena Cobban, a Christian Science Monitor journalist and author of books on the Middle East, will discuss "The Ethics of Engagement in the Middle East" Sept. 8 at the University of Richmond.
Cobban is the first speaker in the 2003-04 WILL/Women's Studies Speaker Series, which is focusing on ethics in a changing world. She will speak at 7 p.m. in room 118 of Jepson Hall. The event is free and open to the public.
Cobban has contributed a regular column to the Christian Science Monitor since 1990, covering such issues as strategic affairs, human rights, peace-building, global governance and international justice. The latest of her five books is "The Moral Architecture of World Peace: Nobel Laureates Discuss our Global Future." She is currently senior global affairs fellow with the University of Virginia's Institute for Practical Ethics.
In 2000 she began research on a project titled "Violence and its Legacies: Challenges for Global Policy," which examines governments' policies to address political violence.
