Landscape, Architectural Photographer to Speak at University of Richmond

Carol Highsmith, landscape and architectural photographer whose work is archived in the Library of Congress, will speak at the University of Richmond Sept. 12 at 7:30 p.m. in Jepson Hall, Room 118. Her lecture is free and open to the public.

Highsmith will talk about the history of women in photography in the United States and of her own career in the competitive occupation. She will also present a slide show of her photographs.

Highsmith's photographs of historic sites and American cities have appeared in dozens of books, including "World Trade Center: Tribute and Remembrance."

Her appearance is the first in the 2002-03 speaker series titled "Women in the Arts," sponsored by the university's Women Involved in Living and Learning (WILL) and Women's Studies programs.
