University of Richmond professor celebrating National Poetry Month in April with daily online interviews with leading children's poets
April 6, 2009
Tricia Stohr-Hunt, a professor of education and children's literature expert at the University of Richmond, is celebrating National Poetry Month in April by publishing daily interviews with leading children's poets on her blog.
Each day of the month, Stohr-Hunt uploads interviews from one or more poets to The Miss Rumphius Effect (missrumphiuseffect.blogspot.com/).
The poets answer a standard series of questions about their work, such as "What got you hooked on children's poetry?" and "Can you describe your poetry writing process?"
Interviews coming up this month include Marilyn Nelson, Newberry Medal honoree, and Mary Ann Hoberman, national children's poet laureate.
Stohr-Hunt's blog, inspired by the children's book "Miss Rumphius" by Barbara Cooney, receives more than 10,000 hits a month.
