Author and activist will discuss feminism, women's workplace issues and "Taking on the Big Boys" at the University of Richmond
April 3, 2008
Author-activist Ellen Bravo, a critic of gender inequality in the workplace for more than 40 years, will speak on "Taking on the Big Boys: Or Why Feminism Is Good for Families, Business and the Nation" April 8, 7 p.m., at the University of Richmond.
In her recent book by the same title, Bravo explores tactics she says have been used to keep women out of executive positions and strategies for challenging them.
Bravo teaches women's studies at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. Former director of 9to5, National Association of Working Women, she remains a consultant to the organization and is a member of several boards and committees, including the Ms. Foundation for Women Advisory Committee and Work-Life Law Advisory Committee.
Bravo's book is the selection of the university's One Book, One Campus program, which encourages students, faculty and staff to examine prejudice and discrimination.
The event is free and open to the public. For more information, contact Camisha Jones at (804) 289-8630 or cjones2@richmond.edu.
