President of NOW Will Speak at University of Richmond
April 6, 2001
Patricia Ireland, president of the National Organization of Women, will speak on April 9 at the University of Richmond.
Her speech, which is free and open to the public, will begin at 7:30 p.m. in Jepson Hall 118. Her topic is "Activism for Women's Lives: Keeping Abortion Legal During the Bush Era."
Jennifer Nourse, coordinator of the university's women's studies program, says Ireland's speech will address NOW's emergency campaign to "save women's rights to self-determination and reproductive freedom." NOW will kick off a national campaign, in Washington, D.C., on April 22, according to Nourse.
