Beard Becomes Associate VP for Development at the University of Richmond

Carl C. Beard has joined the University of Richmond as associate vice president for development and campaign director. He will oversee all development functions, including budget and prospect management.

Beard comes to Richmond from Mars Hill College in Mars Hill, N.C., where he was vice president for institutional advancement and founder-executive vice president of the college and real estate foundations. He previously worked as director of planned giving at Clemson University and founder-executive director of the Greater Anderson (S.C.) Musical Arts Consortium.

Beard pursued doctoral studies in music at the University of South Carolina before entering the development field. He holds a master's degree in church music and vocal performance from Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Ky., and a bachelor's degree in philosophy from Asbury College in Wilmore, Ky.
