SPORTS INFORMATION DIRECTOR

The primary responsibility of the Sports Information Director is to chronicle and disseminate information on the University of Richmond's intercollegiate athletic teams and student-athletes to interested parties on the local, state, regional, and national levels.

Responsibilities include:

  1. Serve as chief liaison between the media and the Department of Athletics;
  2. Supervise the writing and circulating of news releases to the media and other appropriate outlets;
  3. Coordinate press conferences and luncheons;
  4. Develop the content and publication of game programs;
  5. Write and edit sports publications including media guides, magazines, recruiting brochures and special publicity pieces;
  6. Coordinate day-of-game operations for all sports;
  7. Generate feature story ideas for news media which promote University of Richmond intercollegiate athletics and enhance the University's athletics profile;
  8. Maintain statistics and records;
  9. Assist with the sports information student intern program;
  10. Serve as liaison between the University of Richmond Department of Athletics and other universities, conferences and organizations.

The Sports Information Director reports to the Associate Director of Athletics for Communications and Public Relations.
