Introduction

Article 13, Complimentary Athletics Ticket Policy, is part of the University of Richmond Intercollegiate Athletic Policies and Procedures Manual. The purpose of this article (hereafter referred to as complimentary ticket policy) is to provide a comprehensive guide for requesting, authorization and issue of complimentary athletics tickets.

The material and information presented here are a condensation of a number of policies. Users of this complimentary ticket policy are encouraged to make note of any information in the policy which conflicts with existing University, NCAA, and/or conference policies, procedures, or legislation. Noted conflicts and/or recommended changes or comments which may improve the complimentary ticket policy should be submitted to the Director of Ticket Operations, Robins Center, University of Richmond, VA 23173. The information submitted should be keyed to the specific page, paragraph, and line of text. Request reasons be provided for each comment to insure understanding and complete evaluation.

Section 1. Goals

A primary goal of issuing complimentary tickets is to extend the hospitality of the University to invited guests. Complimentary tickets, on a single game basis or season, are provided to Department of Athletics staff, athletics program advertisers, hotel/motel and restaurant club members, media representatives and others designated by the Director of Athletics. The policy is designed to enable the Director of Ticket Operations to predict the number of complimentary tickets that will be given annually in both men's basketball and football.

Another goal is to ensure that all University of Richmond student-athletes are in compliance with NCAA legislation concerning complimentary admissions and ticket benefits.

Section 2. General Policies Regarding Complimentary Tickets

  1. Every ticket printed for football or men's basketball must be signed for by the person receiving complimentary tickets or by the person responsible for distributing the complimentary tickets. This policy will enable the Director of Ticket Operations to account for all tickets, either by signatures for complimentary tickets or by payment for the price of the ticket.
  2. Department of Athletics personnel may receive complimentary tickets upon request for themselves, spouses and members of their immediate family living in the same household. Requests must be made at least 48 hours before games. Requests received on day of game or Fridays before Saturday contests will be filled if time allows.
  3. The University of Richmond will insure that student-athletes follow the permissible procedures for complimentary admissions and tickets benefits listed in NCAA Articles 13.7.5 Entertainment/Tickets on Official Visits; 13.8.2 Entertainment/Tickets of Unofficial Visits; and 16.2 Complimentary Admissions and Ticket Benefits. These permissible procedures are very specific and detailed. Users of the Departmental Complimentary Ticket Policy are referred directly to the most current NCAA Manual for all matters relating to complimentary admissions and tickets benefits for student-athletes. A COMPLIMENTARY ADMISSION REQUEST will be used by all student-athletes requesting complimentary tickets.
  4. The University of Richmond will issue complimentary tickets sparingly, insuring that the number of complimentary tickets issued is kept to a minimum.
