Home School Declaration of Major/Minor Process
(For Arts & Sciences, Business, and Leadership Studies Undergraduates)

Visit the School of Arts & Sciences, Robins School of Business, and/or the Jepson School of Leadership for links to department and program websites.

To declare a major and/or minor in your home school, complete a Major/Minor Declaration Form (available in the Office of the University Registrar). The form requires that all first majors of the primary curriculum must be approved by the Department Chair and have an advisor assigned. The form should be returned to the Office of the University Registrar in Sarah Brunet Hall. Declarations of all majors and minors must be received in the Registrar's Office during the two week Add/Drop period to be effective for that term. Declarations received after the Add/Drop period will not be processed until the end of the term.

Registration Priority
Some departments offer registration priority to students who have declared a major within that department as the first major of their primary curriculum. Registration priority is only available for the first major of the primary curriculum. All majors and/or minors completed at the time of graduation, however, will be reflected on the transcript.

Business and Leadership Studies Students
Students wishing to declare Business as the first major of their primary curriculum, may do so on this same Major/Minor Declaration Form mentioned above. There is no need to go through another admission process. Students wishing to major in Leadership Studies must apply and be selected by the Jepson School of Leadership Studies during the sophomore year.

When should I declare my first major of my primary curriculum?
Students have the option to declare at the end of the first year. Such declarations will be effective as of June 1. Students are encouraged to declare during their sophomore year, and expected to have declared by the end of the sophomore year.

Interschool Major/Minor Declaration Process
Students who wish to declare a major or minor outside of their home school must complete the Interschool Curriculum section of the Major/Minor Declaration Form available in the Office of the University Registrar. This form requires the approval of the appropriate Dean or Department Chair. Upon approval, the form must be turned into the Office of the University Registrar in Sarah Brunet Hall.
