J. Edwin Trader Fund for International Education

The J. Edwin Trader Fund was established in 1996 by Rebecca Trader in memory of J. Edwin Trader, an alumnus of the E. Claiborne Robins School of Business, Class of 1960. Mr. Trader with his wife Rebecca offered genuine and selfless friendship to the international students at the University of Richmond.

The Trader Fund enables UR international students on visas to attend events of cultural, literary, musical, artistic, or historic interest in Richmond or the vicinity. Students will have the opportunity to attend one event per academic year as long as funds are available. Students will purchase their ticket and be reimbursed for the LOWEST priced ticket for the event. Student prices are available for some performances, but they must ask for a student ticket. Tickets are non-transferable. To participate, students must:

Notify the Office of International Education about their intent to use the Trader Fund and approximate cost of the ticket.

Purchase their own ticket. Students will be reimbursed for the lowest priced ticket, but can pay the additional cost themselves for a higher priced ticket.

Attend the event.

Bring a ticket stub or receipt to the Office of International Education no later than 2 weeks after the date printed on the receipt, as well as a completed Trader Fund Request for Reimbursement Form.

When your reimbursement request is ready for processing, Jennifer Stevens will email you and ask you to come to the Office of International Education. If you requested to receive a cash reimbursement, she will give you a form to take to the Cashier’s Office in Sarah Brunet Hall. If you requested to be reimbursed by check, she will have you sign a form which she will then forward to the Accounts Payable department. Please be advised that reimbursements by check take 2-3 weeks for processing.

Examples of cultural events include museums, historical sites, festivals, concerts, theater or other arts performances.
