Social Programs
The Ambassador Program pairs new international students with UR undergraduates who meet regularly to socialize or attend cultural events. The purpose is to welcome international students into the UR community by fostering cross-cultural friendships.
The Host Family Program pairs new international students with UR alumni, faculty, and staff who "host" international students socially by taking them on cultural trips and inviting them to social gatherings. Having a social connection with a local family allows students to obtain a better understanding of American culture and educate others about their own culture.
The International Club is a student-run organization that organizes social, cultural, and educational events with the purpose of bringing students together in a diverse, multicultural environment.
The International Student Peer Mentors is a social outreach program of the Office of International Education designed to encourage peer to peer contact between international students.
Global House is a residential program for students with interests in international issues and cultural diversity. Residents work with other students, faculty, and staff to facilitate cross-cultural understanding and integrate this academic interest with their residential experience. |
