Foundation and Government Grant Opportunities
EducationU.S. Department of Education - 2007-2008 Discretionary Grant Application Packages: Information about application packages for grant competitions that are currently open is available at the following URL: http://www.ed.gov/GrantApps/ The Educational Foundation of America: The Foundation awards grants to non-profit organizations for specific projects. Areas of interest include, but are not limited to, the environment, the crisis of human overpopulation and reproductive freedom, Native Americans, arts, education, medicine, and human services. See http://www.efaw.org/Inquiry%20Guidelines.htm The Spencer Foundation - Research Grants: The Foundation provides funding for investigations that promise to yield new knowledge about education in the United States or abroad. The Foundation funds research grants that range in size from smaller grants that can be completed within a year, to larger, multi-year endeavors. Whereas in the past the Foundation had two distinct research grant programs based on budget size, these have now been reorganized around the current areas of inquiry: (a) The Relation between Education and Social Opportunity; (b) Organizational Learning in Schools, School Systems, and Higher Education Institutions; (c) Teaching, Learning, and Instructional Resources; and (d) Purposes and Values of Education. See http://www.spencer.org/ Carnegie Corporation - Education: The program goal is to support efforts to improve teaching and learning that have the potential to make a lasting and long-term contribution to the field of education. The program is focused on three major areas: 1) advancing literacy: reading to learn, 2) urban school reform, and 3) teacher education reform. A theme that unites these subprograms is the overall goal of increasing access to quality education and a rich educational experience for all students that will prepare them for success in today's knowledge-based economy. Sloan Foundation - Education and Careers in Science and Technology: Programs to strengthen education in science and technology, to increase interest in these fields, and to understand and communicate to others the nature of careers in these fields have long been supported by the Foundation. Increasingly important are opportunities presented by electronic technologies for learning outside the classroom. This program is divided into the following sections: Education for Scientific and Technical Careers; Increasing Ph.D.s For Underrepresented Minorities; Pre-tenure Leave Fellowship Program; Other Programs for Women and Minorities; Retention of Students in Higher Education; and Public Understanding of Science and Technology.
