Foundation and Government Grant Opportunities
Colonies for Artists & Other ScholarsMacDowell Colony - Residencies for Writers, Composers and Artists: Funding is available to established writers, composers, visual artists, photographers and printmakers for residencies at the Colony, located in Peterborough, New Hampshire. DEADLINES - September 15, January 15, April 15. See http://www.macdowellcolony.org/ Virginia Center for the Creative Arts: Located at Mt. San Angelo in Amherst County, the Center provides residential fellowships of two weeks to two months for writers, visual artists and composers. It also offers international residencies for VCCA Fellows at artists' communities in Germany, Austria, France, Ireland and Malta. DEADLINES - September 15, January 15, May 15. See http://www.vcca.com/apply.html Vermont Studio Center - Fellowships: The full fellowships enable artists and writers to be in residence at the Center, located in Johnson, for four weeks. DEADLINES - October 1, February 15, June 15. See http://www.vermontstudiocenter.org/fellowship-fund/ Camargo Foundation - Fellowship Program: The sponsor maintains a study center in Cassis, France, for the benefit of fellows who wish to pursue projects in the humanities and social sciences related to French and Francophone cultures, as well as creative projects by visual artists, photographers, video artists, filmmakers, media artists, composers, and writers. For scholarly projects, research should be at an advanced stage and not require resources unavailable in the Marseilles-Cassis-Aix region. The sponsor offers, at no cost, thirteen furnished apartments as well as a reference library, a darkroom, an artist's studio, and a music composition studio. The residential fellowship is accompanied by a $2,500 stipend, which is awarded automatically to each recipient of the grant. DEADLINE - December 1. See http://www.camargofoundation.org/toapply.asp Rockefeller Foundation - Bellagio Study and Conference Center Residencies: The Center, located on Lake Como in northern Italy, offers funding to scholars, artists, writers, and scientists for one-month stays as well as for workshops, teams of researchers and individual longer-term stays. See http://www.rockfound.org/bellagio/bellagio.shtml Montana Artists Refuge: This artist-run residency program, located in Basin, accepts applications from artists of all disciplines for residencies of 3 months to 1 year. DEADLINES - January 15, May 15, August 15. See http://www.montanaartistsrefuge.org/residencies.htm Atlantic Center for the Arts: The center, located in New Smyrna Beach, Florida, invites visual artists, writers, composers, and dancers to apply to its Artists in Residence program.
