Cirrostratus clouds are very thin. The name cirrostratus means "curl" and "spread out" in Latin. Cirrostratus clouds are high altitude clouds. Cirrostratus clouds from when cool, dry air meets warm, moist air. These clouds are often indicators of rain. Cirrostratus clouds can often produce a halo around the Sun. These clouds are made up of ice crystals because they are found so high in the sky.
