You don't have to be a magician to predict your Spanish grade. This technique can be very useful and can prevent grade problems at the last minute. You need to know all the grades you have received to this point how much each grade is worth toward your final grade. Use this technique to set a goal for yourself and maybe you can even improve your grade!
Let's say it's final exam time. So, you know all your Spanish grades exept for the final exam grade. Here are the averages for each category:
| Homework | 87.3 |
| Quizzes | 86.4 |
| Tests | 82 |
Your Spanish
teacher has told you that homework is worth 15% of your total grade; quizzes
are worth 25%; tests are worth 35%; and the final exam is worth 25%. Multiplying
each category's average grade by the percentage that is assigned to it.
Add these numbers together to find out how many points out of 100 you have
earned so far.
| Homework | 87.3 x 15% = 87.3 x .15 = 13.095 |
| Quizzes | 86.4 x 25% = 86.4 x .25 = 21.6 |
| Tests | 82 x 35% = 82 x .35 = 28.7 |
| Total | 13.095 + 21.6 + 28.7 = 63.395 |
So, you have earned 63.395 points; but 25% of your grade is not accounted for yet, because you haven't taken the final. Here's where you find out if it's possible to pull off a B.
