Ready, Set, SWIM! whales

The Humpback Whales leave the freezing waters of Alaska during the fall and swim for six (6) to eight (8) weeks without stopping! Guess where they end up? The island of Hawaii!

Wouldn't it be fun to spend the winter there? Do you think they see any hula dancers while they are there?

While the Humpback Whales are in Hawaii, they give birth to and take care of their babies which are called calves. Imagine giving birth after swimming for three thousand (3,000) miles! The Humpback Whale's total migration in a year is about six thousand (6,000) miles, one of the longest of any species.
