The Process

The process for this WebQuest is divided into four different steps. The steps are as follows:

Step 1:
Your teacher will divide the class into groups of three for this project. The first job that you will have as a group is to name the baby Beluga whale. Here is a picture of him, so make sure that you choose a name that fits his personality and looks!

Step 2:
Your teacher will assign each of you a specific and important role. You will then individually research those particular aspects of Beluga whales pertaining to your role.

The three roles and their general responsibilities are:

To help you answer those questions is a list of web sites. They have been selected for the depth and breadth of information they contain.

Step 3:
After completing all of your individual research, your group will come back together and share what you found. Using this information, you will work cooperatively to design a proposal for a new home for the baby Beluga. This proposal should include answers to the questions that guided your research in step three. Remember to support your answers with evidence from the web sites. Keep in mind that the best proposal will be chosen to build the new home for the Beluga whale; therefore, your proposal should be clear, concise, and informative. The following web sites will help you in creating your proposal:

Step 4:
Once you have written your informative and polished proposal, you will be asked to present it to a panel of judges. The judges will decide on the best proposal as outlined in the rubric. The winning group will be handsomely rewarded. (Work hard, it's a surprise!) These web sites will help you in developing your group presentation and give you tips on how to work together successfully:
