Conclusion
Just as our life experiences shape who we are and what we think, so did Washington's and DuBois'. Booker T. Washington and W.E.B. DuBois were both dynamic figures of their age. They both saw education as a vital component to helping African-Americans overcome the adversity they faced, but their visions were different. Asstudents of history, we are left to grapple with the difficult question of how to remember them-- just as generations to come will have to decide how to remember us.
