Welcome to our WebQuest, Betsy’s Quilt!

Creating a quilt based on hypothetical instructions that Betsy Ross left behind in her journal guides students through this creative and interactive avenue for exploring geometry standards.  By following this WebQuest, students will explore geometric shapes, patterns, and symmetry while creating a unique project that encourages them to integrate all three of these elements.

Students should have prior knowledge of patterns and algebra and geometry VA standards of learning as outlined in grade 2.

This WebQuest is designed to be used over at least several class periods. Phase 1 and 2 of the process could be completed together, but Phases 3 and 4 are more substantial group work & design tasks.

There is significant information provided for students on their page, but there are also many additional content resources provided for instructor background or supplemental teaching of these concepts.
