Evaluation


You will each be individually evaluated throughout your Quest. Your teacher will check to see that you have each completed the following items:

  1. Griot worksheet
  2. Organizational web for your individual expert area
  3. Chart that lists at least 8 important details from each area. (Everyone needs to complete their own chart but you will be sharing the information and filling in the facts together as a group).

The following items should be completed as a group, however, they will factor into your final grade:

  1. Completion of board game
  2. Group process and collaboration

If one member of the group appears to not be contributing equally, this person’s grade will be affected. If the group as a whole cannot seem to cooperate and work productively, then each individual member’s grade will be affected. The rubric below explains the points you will receive for each portion of this WebQuest.

A. Research

 
Some answers on the griot worksheet are not complete - one word responses are given; Web only has one or two thoughts on it; Area of expertise has not been thoroughly researched; Some research information provided was not included; Chart displays 5 or fewer important facts.
Griot worksheet answers do not appear to be well thought out; Web is not as complete as it could be - number of bubbles is limited; Some recorded information is incomplete and difficult to understand; All board game questions exist, however the chart shows the specific area does not have at least 8 important facts.
Griot worksheet answers are well written and appear to be well thought out; Specific area was thoroughly researched as there is lots of information within web; reader can easily understand what is presented in the web; Area of expertise is substantially represented in the board game questions and at least 8 important facts were provided.
  

 

B. Board Games

 
The board game is missing some of the questions required (there should be 20 total); Appearance shows that not a lot of planning went into the creation of it - sloppy and directions are unclear. Questions are repetitive and require yes or no responses.
The board game is only missing one or two questions; some planning went into making it - directions are somewhat clear and the appearance okay. The appearance is not as crisp and intriguing to the players. Questions are well formed and thought out.
The board game has all 20 questions that exhibit careful planning. The game is intriguing and the questions require some thought of the players. The appearance shows that a lot of planning went into the creation of the game and appears inviting to a player.

 

 

 

C. Group Work

 

 
There were problems with students working together. Information chart was not completed as a group effort. The board game also was not done as a group. One or two members ended up with most of the work load.
There was only one instance where the group had trouble working together. The work load was somewhat divided among members for the chart and board game. Students worked together about 80% of the time.
Students worked very well together and divided all work up equally; each member played an important role within the group. There was no difficulty in cooperating. The WebQuest was a real team effort.

If you find you are having difficulty in locating information for your specific role, you should communicate this to your teacher. He or she may be able to tell you where to look and point you in the right direction. Missing information will be excused as long as you have discussed this with your teacher. Do not assume that if you cannot find it, you do not need to provide the information. You might be overlooking something!! Ask for help.
