Science SOL 3.2: The Student will identify and differentiate the six types of simple machines.

This WebQuest is designed to be completed in several groups of six students. The teacher should assign groups and roles before they begin the WebQuest. If you have less than six students in a group, students may need to become an expert on more than one simple machine.

The lesson is organized into eight steps that begin with researching simple machines on the Internet. Each step builds on the next until the students are able to incorporate the concept of simple machines into one complex machine.

This WebQuest should take approximately ten lesson periods to complete.
