Your role is to complete the letter from the perspective of a Jamestown settler in 1609. You are concerned about the government and economy (how the settlers earn a living). When the colonists first formed their government, they were still under the control of English laws. After the first governor of Virginia was named, the Jamestown settlers decided to make their own laws. The House of Burgesses was created as the lawmaking body in Virginia.
While you are doing your research, you will use this worksheet to answer several important questions about your role. At the end of the project, you will need to turn in the completed worksheet to your teacher.
