Several questions will arise during this WebQuest. Is "Dolphin-Safe Tuna" really safe for dolphins? What actions can be taken to prevent harm to marine mammals while fishing? Is there a way for fishermen to fish without harming ocean life? Are the present laws effective in regulating the tuna industry? There is no right or wrong answer to these questions, so a class forum and debate will help you to form your own opinions.

You will be working in small groups with other students in class to answer the questions posed above. Each of you will take on a role in the "Dolphin-Safe" debate. As a member of a group, you will explore web sites that explain the various issues about dolphin-safe tuna.

You will begin with everyone in your group learning some general information on the dolphin-safe issues. You will become knowledgeable on the aspects that pertain to your role in the debate by reading and exploring the links to specific web pages. Then you will present your case to the rest of the class on the debate.
