In this Web Quest you will be working together with a group
of four students. As a member of the group, you will:
- Examine the similarities
and differences between various versions of the Cinderella story using the
Internet. You will read tales from Vietnam,
Russia,
and Italy. Using this graphic
organizer (PDF file), compile a list of similarities and differences between
the stories. Each member of the group
will take on one of the following four roles:
- Read through the information
provided for your role. As you explore your specific sites, make sure to print
out or take notes on important information.
You have all become experts on different aspects of life in Ancient Greece!
Using this information, you must now collectively write a Cinderella story that
might be told in Ancient Greece. Incorporate what each group member discovered
into the story line, story details, and corresponding pictures to accurately
portray aspects of Ancient Greek life. Here is the process:
- Share the information
you have gathered with the rest of your group in order to have a complete
picture of what life was like in Ancient Greece. This will provide you with
the information needed to incorporate into your own version of the Cinderella
story.
- Come up with the general
plot of your story. Think back to the different versions of Cinderella that
you read as background information. Refer to your worksheet about the differences
and similarities of these stories. Provide details that
are specific to Ancient Greece. Use pieces of information that you gathered
to show the reader that you have really researched Ancient Greek life.
- Each person in your
group needs to make sure that information from their area of expertise is
accurately portrayed in your story. Have each person in
your group proofread the story. Use spell check and save this version to a
disk provided by your teacher.
- As a group, discuss
the type of illustrations you want to have to go with your story. Work together
to produce creative illustrations that reflect your research.
- Print out a copy of
your text and bind both the text and the pictures in a report folder. Be sure
to include a creative cover!
