Evaluation

At the end of this WebQuest each group will have created an original design on a 2 foot square on bristol board.  Hypothetically, your design will be duplicated by artists and made into the tapestry to decorate the Gates.

Overall, groups will be evaluated throughout the WebQuest, making cooperation and contribution an important part of the grading process. Specifically, the following areas will be taken into consideration for an individual and group grade.

You and your group will be evaluated according to five criteria:

Final Product

This category includes the appearance of the final product. Does the final product meet the criteria in the Mayor's Letter?  The final product should show that you understand the three expert areas and that everyone contributed based on their area of expertise. The final product should show an effective and creative combination of all three elements.

Collaborative Effort

Despite the fact that each of you has a different job, the most important part of the project is that you all worked together to combine your various expert perspectives. Each group member should have contributed equally to the final task and should have been involved in the process throughout the project.

Individual Performance

You will also be evaluated on an individual level based on how well you became an expert in your area.  The manner in which you worked with the group will also be evaluated: How well did you show your understanding of the aspects of your expert role? How did you contribute to the knowledge (and design) of the group? Are your individual contributions obvious in the final product?

Written Explanation

You will be evaluated on your 1-2 page written explanation of your final product. Describe how each aspect of geometry is included and reflect on the challenges and enjoyments of combining all three components to create the final piece of art.
