Evaluation


 

Your group will be graded on four parts of this exhibition; Preplanning materials,the power point presentation, the poster, and the brochure.

Preplanning Materials (50 pts)
        -  Notes and sketches from all 30 pieces researched 
        -  Optional: Turn in power point presentation to be reviewed by the teacher

Power Point Presentation (100 pts)
        -  Review rubric before beginning presentation

Poster (75 pts)
         -  Review rubric before creating
         -  Geared towards elementary students
         -  Advertisement for A Knight's Tour

Brochure (100 pts)
         -  Review rubric before creating
         -  Geared towards teachers and administration
         -  Educational benefits of A Knight's Tour

You will receive a group grade for each of these tasks, but your individual effort and contribution will be evident in the work produced and will directly effect your grade. Take pride in your work and contribution! Make sure you review the grading rubrics before you begin working.


Poster and Brochure Rubric

The poster will be sent to various Elementary Schools in order to promote your exhibition. Your poster should capture the student's attention as well as provide students with the basic information about the show (i.e. title, dates, etc.) The poster will be assessed on the following rubric:

Elements of Design

Line, Texture, Color, Shape/Form, Value, Space, Repetition, Balance, Emphasis, Contrast, Unity.

(25 pts)

The assignment was turned in, but showed little evidence of any understanding of the elements and principles of art; no evidence of planning.

Students did the assignment adequately, yet it shows lack of planning and little evidence that an overall composition was planned.

Artwork shows students applied the principles of design while using one or more elements effectively; shows and awareness of filling the space adequately.

Planned carefully, made several sketches, and showed an awareness of the elements and principles of design; chose color scheme carefully, used space effectively


 

Creativity/Originality

How original and innovative is the work?

(25 pts)

 

Students fulfilled the assignment, but gave no evidence of trying anything new.

Students tried an idea but it lacked originality; substituted symbols for personal observation; might have copied work.

Students tried a few ideas for selecting one; or based their work on someone else's idea; made decisions after returning to one source; solved the problem in a logical way.

Students explored several choices before selecting one; incorporated many ideas; tried new and unusual combinations on several ideas; made connections to previous knowledge; demonstrated understanding problem solving skills.


 

Effort/Perseverance

Did the students stay on task?

The project was completed with minimal effort

Students finished the project, but it could have been improved with more effort; adequate interpretation of the assignment, but lacking finish; chose and easy project and did it indifferently

Students work hard and completed the assignment, but with a little more effort it might have been outstanding.

The project was continued until it was completed; gave effort far beyond that required; took pride in going beyond the requirement.


 

Craftsmanship/Skill/ Consistency

How well does the work solve the problem outlined in the assignment? Didn't rush to get it done, but paid attention to consistency in the work.

(30 pts)

Students showed below average craftsmanship, lack of pride in finished work.

Students showed average craftsmanship; adequate but not as good as it could have been, a bit careless.

With a little more effort, the work could have been outstanding; lacks finishing touches.

The artwork was beautiful and patiently done, it was as good as hard work can make it.


 

Group Cooperation/Attitude

How well did the students participate and work with each other?

(10 pts)

Students allowed one or two people to do most of the work.

Students mostly allowed one or two people in the group to make all the decisions, everyone in the group did his/her share of the work; adequately assisted in preparation and clean-up.

Students participated enthusiastically, communication between members was positive, performed more than adequately, assisted in preparation and cleanup.

Students worked toward group goals effectively, performed variety of roles in group work, followed through with commitments, performed more than adequately, assisted in preparation and cleanup.

(40 pts)
The project is missing pieces of art work, information is missing and scattered. The artwork does not reflect the Medieval Ages. No sign of PRE-planning. The project may be missing a few pieces of art work, information is more organized but critical parts are still not present. The project lacks pre-planning and organization. All 10 pieces are present, but some information is missing. The missing information does not hinder the overall understanding of the presentation. Information could be better organized and planned. All 10 pieces are present, including the date,era, and why it exemplifies the Middle Ages. Pre-planning is evident . Information is organized and presented in a logical manner.


 

Discussion of Historical, Cultural, and Geographical Elements

Is it adequately supported with background information and student insight?

 (20 pts)
Lacks enough support for each piece of artwork. Students have little ,if any, personal insight. The presentation shows signs of background support, but fails to incorporate all elements of historical, cultural, and geographical. Little if any student insight.

The presentation has an adequate amount of support. There is evidence of some student insight. Information is organized well.
The presentation goes above and beyond the requirements. More than adequate information is presented to support the art pieces. Students provide insightful perspective.


Oral Presentation

Everyone in the group is participating, eye contact, not reading directly off power point

(10 pts)
Only one or two members of the group present the information. Students are reading directly off of the power point presentation. only a few members of the group present the information. Students at times are unclear and do no have good eye contact. All students participate in the presentation, but students tend to rely too much on notes.Students are well spoken and are clear. Every member participates in group presentation. Students are well versed with their information and do not read from the slides.


Technical Aspects

Backgrounds are consistent, objects support content, computer/program capabilities applied appropriately, no errors.

(25 pts)
There are many technical errors. These errors distract from the meaning and presentation of materials. There are many technical error. These errors distract from the meaning and presentation in places. The presentation shows signs correct application in areas. There are some technical errors. A few distract from the meaning of the information. Overall errors are kept to a minimum. There are few, if any, technical problems. The technical error do not distract from the meaning or presentation of information.


 

Citation of Sources/Copyright Information

(5 pts)
Citation and is missing, no sign of resources used. Resources are not cited properly, information is missing. A few resources are incorrectly cited or missing. All resources and information is present and cited correctly. Copyright issues are correctly cited.
