Ready for Moore

Moore or More?

Moore Hall is a residence hall that houses first-year women.  It is also home to Ready for Moore? (or RFM for short), a community of first-year women who are ready for more in their residential experience.

What is RFM?

This community of first-year women is looking for ways to connect their academic experience to residence hall life.  Women will take Foundations of Leadership Studies (LDST 101), participate in activities and programs related to the course, and develop strong connections to faculty:  Dr. Crystal Hoyt, Assistant Professor in Leadership Studies, and Dr. Tom Shields, Director of the Center for Leadership in Education (associated faculty with Jepson).  Also, RFM has a close relationship with the Richmond College program for first-year men, “Spinning Your Web.”  All participants of both programs enroll in a section of LDST 101 with Dr. Shields.

What is Leadership Studies?

The study of leadership requires us to ask fundamental questions about who we are, how we live together, and how we influence the course of history.  It exemplifies the spirit of liberal arts, which is to educate people to take an active role in the world in which we live.  The Jepson School helps students realize their distinctive, individual potential, with the added expectations that they apply their learning for the good of society.

Who should apply?

Any first-year woman!  Whether you are considering leadership studies as a major, want to make close friends interested in intellectual inquiry, or are simply curious about the program, this community is for you!
