Break out sessions on:
Relationships: Sisters United
Presenter: Carmen Foster, Principal, WisdomTree Consulting, LLC
This session will serve as an open forum for women to discuss relationship
development, talk about issues that prevent women from having healthy
relationships, and look at ways to become proactive in their quest to
build healthy relationships. This session seeks to unite women of color
who often may find themselves competing on various levels.
Women’s Health: The Silent Killers
Presenter: Anita Johnston, Virginia Department of Health
This session will
focus on health related issues affecting women of color at an alarming
rate. During the session women will learn how they can proactively take
steps to become healthier. This session will also have a question and
answer period.
Finding Peace in a crazy world
Presenter: Kate O’Dwyer Randall, UR Chaplain
This session will focus on
helping women find tangible ways to deal with stress. More often than not
college students find themselves dealing with high levels of stress due to
school, family, and other personal relationship concerns. Finding peace
will aid women in learning how to re-focus in the midst of the chaos
surrounding them.
Life
Decisions: What career is right for me?
Presenter: Leslie Stevenson, Director of the Career Development Center at UR
This
session will focus on helping women form ideas about career options based
on their own personal needs. The session will also focus on the struggles
that a woman of color may encounter in the job search process and provide
some tips to proactively assist women.
